Alicrite x Costa Curvati – Technological Innovation for Luxury Design

Born from the collaboration between Mimma Formenti for Costa Curvati and Lisa Tavazzani, founder of Alicrite, this high-tech material was designed to meet the highest standards in the luxury interior design sector.

The project combines a curved plywood base with a thin sheet of Alicrite, bonded through an advanced high-frequency process. The result is a surface that is resistant, lightweight, and visually refined—merging technical performance with aesthetic quality.

The true innovation lies in the production method of Alicrite sheets: the resin is cast between two engraved and tempered glass plates, capable of withstanding the high temperatures required for polymerization. This system allows the precise transfer of three-dimensional textures onto the surface of the sheet. The developed technology enables brands to achieve customized surfaces on an industrial scale, making serial customization possible without sacrificing detail quality.

The textured finish of Alicrite, available in glossy or matte versions, replaces traditional paints and coatings, offering a sophisticated tactile and visual effect. In addition, the presence of mineral fillers in the resin ensures resistance to light, scratches, and wear, making the material ideal for high-traffic environments such as hospitality, boutiques, and premium residences.

Thanks to these features, the material was awarded “Material of the Year 2009” in the international MTechnology Award, confirming the value of the research and innovation behind its development.
